Hygiena

A professional cleaning of the oral cavity must be performed once every six months. During the procedure, hard and soft dental plaque, tartar above and below the gums and smoke pigmentation is removed by using ultrasound, sodium sand jet (Air Flow) and special instruments (curettes). At the end of the procedure, the teeth are polished with special pastes and covered with remineralizing and sensitivity-decreasing preparations (gels and varnishes).

The hygienist will explain to and show the patients how to correctly brush their teeth and will explain the necessity of visiting the dentist if a damaged tooth is discovered during the procedure. A visit to the dentist is best begun with a hygienist, because a doctor’s visit might not be necessary, but, if it is, the doctor will have a “cleaner field of action”.
